Zendaya to voice Shrek’s teen daughter in ‘Shrek 5’: Here’s what to know in Michigan

Zendaya will join everyone’s favorite burly, green ogre, Shrek, who first debuted on the big screen 24 years ago.

Universal Pictures has confirmed that some of the original cast is returning to for “the”Shrek 5,” including Mike Myers (Shrek), Eddie Murphy (Donkey) and Cameron Diaz (Fiona).

On Thursday, Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation shared a new trailer for “Shrek 5,” more than six months after announcing the fifth film in the popular animated series.

The 30-second trailer features Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, Pinocchio and Shrek’s teenage daughter Felicia — sporting deep green lipstick, a half-up-half-down hairdo and a nose ring. The trailer confirms Zendaya’s casting as Felicia.

As part of the announcement, Universal Pictures re-shared a 2017 X post from Zendaya that says, “I watch Shrek too often in my adulthood.”

Shrek’s and Fiona’s children were introduced in the 2007 release of “Shrek 3,” when the animated ogres gave birth to triplets: Fergus, Farkle and Felicia. Until now, the triplets were only been seen as infants in the franchise.

When will ‘Shrek 5’ be released?

“Shrek 5” is slated for a theater release on Dec. 23, 2026, according to the Universal Pictures website.

According to IMDB, “Shrek,” which premiered in 2001, has grossed $488 million worldwide. The movie has an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Shrek 2,” released in 2004, has grossed $932 million worldwide. The movie has an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Shrek the Third,” released in 2007, has grossed $808 million worldwide. The movie has a 41% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Shrek Forever After,” released in 2010, has grossed $752 million worldwide. The movie has a 58% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
