Remaining very cold during the pre-dawn hours and will prime the atmosphere for some wintry precipitation, starting early Thursday.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Thursday. More on Thursday’s mess below. We’re expecting another wintry mix for the later part of the weekend….and more snow is possible early next week!

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been posted for Thursday for snow, sleet and freezing rain to impact our area. This is from 7AM to 7PM.
Snow will develop by the early morning commute. Snow will likely stick to any untreated roads right away as pavement temperatures initially will be very cold
Snow will become widespread for a few hours and 1-3″ of snow is possible.
Southeasterly winds will transport milder air into the region, and sleet and freezing rain will develop as a result….that transition happens at the south coast first. The snow will linger inland longer, and that’s where we’ll find the highest accumulations.
Up to an inch along the south coasts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. In the Providence area, a couple inches is expected. Farther inland (Foster, Glocester, Burrillville and Woonsocket), 3″ are possible. A glaze of freezing rain and some sleet will follow the snow by afternoon.
The snow/sleet/freezing rain and rain will taper off in the afternoon, but roads will likely remain slippery
Friday will be quiet, but breezy. With sunshine, we’ll have highs in the upper 30s. Another messy system will arrive late Saturday night into Sunday Morning
Accumulating snow is expected to develop during the overnight hours Saturday into Sunday then change to ice and rain by Sunday morning. Several inches of snow possible across northern suburbs by early Sunday morning
