The Southeastern Conference sent a record 14 teams to the tournament this year. But the conference’s performance has been disappointing once the games started.
The SEC went 8-6 in the opening round and have already seen another squad – Texas A&M – bounced in the round of 32.
Florida, the conference’s tournament champion, is now at risk of going home early as well.
The SEC has been widely considered the nation’s best basketball conference this year. Unfortunately for SEC-lovers, so far it’s not performed that way under the brightest lights.

The drama doesn’t stop coming in the NCAA tournament and it looks like we’re in for an early treat from today’s matchups.
We are all tied up going into halftime as the No. 1 seed Florida is struggling against the UConn Huskies.
UConn has impressed throughout the opening 20 minutes – particularly on defense – with the Gators unable to unlock their free-flowing offense.
With both teams shooting fewer than 40% from the field, it has not been an offensive masterclass by any means, but the game is being played at a ferocious pace.
The second half should see more of the same as UConn continues its quest for a three-peat and Florida looks to avoid an upset.

Florida certainly knows its in a battle and UConn is making things difficult for the No. 1 seed.

But there are positive signs for Florida on offense. Alijah Martin is off to a hot start and Walter Clayton Jr. has sunk two quick shots from deep to get himself going.
UConn is starting to see Liam McNeeley find his rhythm which will be key if the Huskies are to cause an upset.

Will Sunday’s March Madness start with a quasi-Cinderella story for the back-to-back champs?
It is a busy day for Blue Devils fans and their Sunday tips off with the women’s team in action against Oregon.
No. 2 Duke comes into the game as a heavy favorite and will be further encouraged by its 86-25 demolition of Lehigh in the round of 64.
Oregon, the No. 10 seed, produced an upset in the first round with a win against No. 7 Vanderbilt and will be hoping to ride that wave of momentum to the Sweet 16.
The Florida Gators are the first No. 1 seed in action today and face a tough matchup against the UConn Huskies.
The Huskies are the back-to-back men’s NCAA tournament champions but have gone slightly off the boil this season.
This, however, will still be a test for the Gators who will know Dan Hurley’s Huskies are capable of causing an upset on their day.
Florida eased into this round of 32 matchup with a dominant 95-69 first round win against Norfolk State. UConn faced a sterner test in Oklahoma but came through with a 67-59 win.
Keep an eye out for Florida’s Walter Clayton Jr. who is capable of singlehandedly leading the Gators to a spot in the Sweet 16.
Arkansas did just enough to hold on against St. John’s to provide the biggest upset of the 2025 NCAA tournament so far.
In a game played at an electric pace from start to finish, the Razorbacks held strong as the No. 2 seed St. John’s’ late surge came too late.
