Two days after trading for Anthony Davis, the Dallas Mavericks are making another roster move.

Per multiple reports, the Mavs will receive swingman Caleb Martin from the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Quentin Grimes and a 2025 second-round pick. The move gives Dallas added perimeter depth after the deal that sent All-NBA guard Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Martin inked a four-year deal with the 76ers as a free agent last summer as a part of Philadelphia’s revamping around Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and fellow new addition Paul George.

The 29-year-old Martin averaged 8.5 points over five seasons entering 2024-25, including the last three with the Miami Heat. It was in Miami where Martin developed a reputation for raising his game. He averaged 10 points and shot 35% from 3-point range.

This season, he is averaging 9.1 ppg, 4.4 rpg and 2.2 apg in 31 games for Philadelphia, but the Sixers have languished and, at 19-29, are No. 11 in the Eastern Conference. In Dallas, Martin will join a frontcourt that includes Davis and Max Christie (also acquired in the Dončić deal), P.J. Washington and Naji Marshall.

In the 2023 playoffs, Martin averaged 19.3 points on 60% shooting and scored a playoff-career-high 26 points on Boston’s home floor in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. He was solid in the first two rounds that season against No. 1 Milwaukee and No. 5 New York, averaging 10.8 points on nearly 53% shooting.
