Despite seemingly coming into the evening as an underdog, Newton woman Juliana Pasquarosa, 28, received the final rose on Season 29 of “The Bachelor,” accepting day trader Grant Ellis’ marriage proposal on Monday’s three-hour season finale.

Pasquarosa, a client service associate at Winthrop Wealth, ultimately prevailed over venture capitalist Litia Garr, 31, who was seen as the more likely of the final two women to receive the final rose.

“Juliana, since our first night playing the piano and getting to know you, we’ve always had a connection,” Ellis said. “Through this whole journey, you’ve been somebody who has inspired me and kept me laughing with your contagious smile, because we understand what we’ve been through, and we understand what it means to persevere.

“I truly believe that you’re somebody who is my best friend, and I’m so grateful for our journey, Ellis continued. “And when you’re going through the toughest times in your life, I want you to know that you don’t have to go through it alone, that I’ll be there for you, as your man, as your friend, as your partner. Will you marry me?”

Through tears, Pasquarosa accepted Ellis’ proposal.

After not receiving the final rose, Litia called Juliana “a beautiful person,” but also said she should have “a lot of questions” about Grant.

During the live portion of the season finale, Litia told “The Bachelor” host Jesse Palmer that Grant had told her he was ready to “stop the show right now” because he was certain that Litia was his “number one emotional connection.”

Grant and Juliana also spoke to Palmer about being able to publicly live their lives together as a couple now that the season has wrapped.

“This moment does feel just so surreal. The whole journey has felt a bit like a fever dream,” Pasquarosa said. “But you know, we’ve lived so many months just really reconnecting and getting to know each other, and I’m just so excited to get dinner with this man and have a glass of wine.”
