New Orleans kicks off Mardi Gras Day parades early due to weather concerns

Everywhere else, it’s just Tuesday. But today, New Orleans throws the biggest free party in the world.Latest forecast | Download the WDSU Parade Tracker app | Full schedule of parades This year weather concerns have bumped parade times up from their normal schedule. Zulu will roll at 6:30 a.m. followed by Rex at 9:30 a.m. Both are on shortened routes. Zulu will toast at Gallier Hall before disbanding at Poydras and Loyola. Rex will follow Zulu and start at Napoleon Ave. and S Claiborne Ave. but will not toast at Gallier Hall and they will disband at St. Charles Avenue and Calliope Street. The truck floats that follow Zulu and Rex have been cancelled and rescheduled for Sunday, March 9 at a time to be determined.The Krewe of Argus and truck parades in Jefferson Parish were cancelled.
