The Seattle Mariners are signing Gold Glove catcher Cal Raleigh to a six-year, $105 million contract extension, a league source confirmed to The Athletic. The deal includes a full no-trade clause.
Raleigh is coming off a career-best season in 2024, his fourth in the majors after being drafted by Seattle in the third round of the 2018 MLB Draft. He paced the Mariners last season in home runs (34), RBI (100) and walks (70) by a wide margin while hitting in the heart of the order and catching a personal-high 135 games.
His 34 homers led all catchers and were tied for 12th in the majors with Pete Alonso of the New York Mets. He also was one of only 16 players to drive in 100 runs.
The 28-year-old initially signed a one-year, $5.6 million contract with the team in January to avoid arbitration. The new deal places him third among MLB catchers in average annual value ($17.5 million), trailing only Philadelphia’s J.T. Realmuto ($23.1 million) and Kansas City’s Salvador Perez ($20.5 million), per Spotrac.
For his career, Raleigh is a .218 hitter but has averaged 537.3 plate appearances, 30.3 HR, 79.3 RBI and 65.6 runs scored per season since his 2022 breakout.
Raleigh is now signed through the end of the 2030 season.
