Luka Doncic is officially a Los Angeles Laker. In a move that has sent shockwaves throughout the NBA, the Dallas Mavericks traded the perennial All-Star to the Lakers in a package centered around star big man Anthony Davis.
Doncic has been the face of the Mavericks for several years now and it has been widely reported that he did not see this trade coming. Regardless, he’s off to Los Angeles, which is one of the biggest markets in the NBA. He now has a real shot to be the face of the entire league.
Doncic’s Lakers jersey is about to become one of the biggest sellers in the NBA, but what number is he planning on wearing?

In the Lakers announcement of the Doncic addition, they posted a photo of him wearing his No. 77 jersey number but in their uniform. It has also been confirmed by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin that Doncic will continue wearing No. 77 with the Lakers.
Los Angeles has many jersey numbers retired but No. 77 was open. If Doncic can play to the same level as he has with the Mavericks, there’s a good chance he’ll have his jersey up in the rafters of Crypto.com Arena one day.
