The New York Knicks are hosting the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. New York entered this contest riding a five-game winning streak that improved its overall record to 32-16.
Led by one of the NBA‘s best starting lineups, the Knicks boast a lot of firepower in their five-man group of Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby and Karl-Anthony Towns. Entering Saturday, this lineup had played 797 minutes together which is the most of any five-man combination in the league (via NBA’s official data).
Unfortunately for New York, a big piece of this lineup went down against the Lakers.

With 10:38 remaining in the third quarter, Anunoby went back to the locker room with what looked to be an apparent non-contact lower leg injury.
“OG Anunoby headed to the locker room after an injury on a non-contact play,” NBA on ESPN captioned a post on X, adding a replay of the injury.
An ironman for New York, Anunoby has appeared in all 49 games this season, averaging 16.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 36.7 minutes per contest entering Saturday. Not long after Anunoby went to the locker room, New York announced the unfortunate news that he would not return.
“OG Anunoby (right foot sprain) will be out for the remainder of tonight’s game,” the Knicks announced on X.
Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau will likely be asked for an additional update postgame.
