It would seem that John Rocker and Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, are not fans of one another.
Video emerged on social media Tuesday showing the two involved in a physical altercation on Bourbon Street in New Orleans days before the Philadelphia Eagles’ 40-22 victory over the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59 on Sunday.
Rocker appeared to approach Mahomes Sr. to strike up a conversation before the latter pulled away and started yelling at the former Atlanta Braves star.
It didn’t take long for Rocker to take to social media to explain his side of things, essentially throwing Mahomes Sr. under the bus for overreacting.
“This [expletive] loser can’t take a damn joke,” Rocker tweeted. “Wish I laid him out right there and ruined his [expletive] weekend even more.”

While it’s not known what caused the viral dust-up, one X user threw out a pretty good guess and it was revealed Rocker fired off a series of tweets criticizing Mahomes Sr.’s son in the days leading up to the Super Bowl.
“Patrick Mahomes [expletive] sucks,” Rocker tweeted on Jan. 26.
The 50-year-old former MLBer also tweeted a few other derogatory remarks about Mahomes, including one unflattering and suggestive post about the star signal-caller and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Of course, there’s also the possibility the viral video was staged in an effort to hype up the exhibition boxing match between the two at Barstool Sports’ “Rough N’ Rowdy” event, which was confirmed by Barstool founder Dave Portnoy last week though the contract hasn’t officially been signed yet.
Either way, between the footage of their tense altercation and the war of words they’re exchanging on X on Tuesday night, both are putting on quite a show for their fans.
