On what was Blue Monday in the UK, it was fitting Chelsea returned to winning ways in the Premier League by defeating Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Tosin Adarabioyo broke the deadlock for the Blues following a lengthy VAR review, but we went into the break level after Matt Doherty struck deep in first-half stoppage time.

A reaction was required from Maresca’s side. The Blues delivered. On the hour mark, Noni Madueke whipped a cross into the Wolves box that was flicked on by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and then finished off well by Marc Cucurella.

Madueke went from provider to scorer five minutes later when he turned home a goalbound header from the excellent Trevoh Chalobah, who returned to the starting XI after being recalled from his loan spell at Crystal Palace last week.
