Ruben Amorim called his Manchester United side “maybe the worst team in the history” of the club after they fell to yet another defeat in the Premier League, this time at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion.
United have now lost four of their last six matches in the league to sit closer to the relegation zone (10 points) than the top four (12). That latter figure stood at only seven when Erik ten Hag was sacked back in October and Amorim knows everything must improve.
“In 10 games in the Premier League we won two, I know that,” Amorim said. “Imagine this for a fan of Manchester United, imagine this for me. You are getting a new coach who is losing more than the last coach. Imagine that. We need to survive this moment. I know that.
“We are being maybe the worst team in the history of Manchester United. I know that you want headlines but I’m saying that because we have to acknowledge that and to change that. So there you go, your headline.”

Legendary former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, speaking to MUTV before the match, opened up on the enduring impact of Denis Law.
He said: “Once you knew Denis and saw him as a player, you just thought ‘wow, this is a player’. There is a saying in Scotland ‘who do you think you are? Denis Law?’.
“He was the best Scottish player of all time. He was a fantastic player. He epitomises Scotland, fighting away, having a fight in an empty house. He was an incredible human being.
“He had the gift of being able to take the mickey out of people when they don’t know. The great thing is he didn’t use his fame. He was so level-headed.
“They had George Best and Bobby Charlton, but they called him the King.It is something to do with the determination and will to win he showed every time he came onto the football field.
“He was a really competitive human being, no matter what the game, that was always there. It was a natural thing for the supporters to associate with him and their king.
“He turned the club round, that was the greatest thing. Sir Matt was recovering from the Munich air disaster. They won the first trophy (in 1963) just after they signed Denis. The part he played was vital in the renovation of the team. He was the cornerstone of the future success.”

Manchester United were beaten 3-1 by Brighton & Hove Albion on another chastening day for the English giants and new manager Ruben Amorim.
Amorim lost his seventh match in 15 since joining, the club losing their fifth in eight matches as Brighton outplayed them for much of the game. Yankuba Minteh scored inside five minutes before Bruno Fernandes levelled from the spot with United’s only shot on target.
In the second half, Joao Pedro saw a goal ruled out for a foul but Kaoru Mitoma volleyed home on the hour mark and Georginio Rutter tapped in after a horrendous Andre Onana error.
The result leaves United marooned in 13th, with Amorim labelling his side ‘maybe the worst team in the history of Manchester United’ after the match.

Let’s wrap it up for you.
Basically Ayari took the free kick just outside the box after that silly foul from Mainoo, he tried to pass it short along the ground as part of a set move but slipped leading to United cheers.
Welbeck dummied, it hit Zirkzee, Van Hecke and Dalot went for the ball, with Dalot getting his foot to it first and Van Hecke, slightly late into the tackle, accidentally kicking the bottom of Dalot’s foot.
Dalot went down, which wasn’t obvious in real time, before Joao Pedro tried to control the ball. Zirkzee cleared it off Pedro, who turned free and slotted it powerfully through Onana’s legs before celebrating.
United called for the VAR check, got it, and it has upheld their complaints and disallowed the goal. Right call for me.
