Gvardiol: ‘I’m really happy for Savinho!’

Mateo Kovacic slotted us level after 53 minutes, before Savinho expertly played Gvardiol through inside the box, and his cross cannoned off Joel Ordonez into the net to give us the all-important lead just after the hour mark.

Savinho then fired in our third of the evening to secure our passage into the play-off round of the Champions League.

“Yeah Savinho, I’m really happy for him,” said Gvardiol after the game.

“He’s still young, so I would suggest to him to just be focused and to keep going and just wait for his chance.

“I’m happy that I can help the team again to get the lead in the game. Unluckily it’s not my goal but that doesn’t matter.

“The most important thing is that we won the game today.”

The Croatian also revealed exactly what Pep Guardiola told the players in his half-time team talk and gave is overall assessment of the team’s performance in the victory.
