Golden State Warriors Have to be ‘Perfect’ Amid Stephen Curry Injury

The Golden State Warriors secured a costly 117-114 victory against the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night. Stephen Curry exited the game before the night was over due to a pelvic contusion. This could put the Warriors into a tough spot moving forward.

Curry took a hard fall on that area of his body while driving to the basket against the Raptors. The Warriors legend exited the game with 25 minutes played and 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field.

The good news for the Warriors and their fans is that Curry’s injury may not be too serious. Steve Kerr said as much after the game was over.

The Warriors head coach explained the decision to remove their superstar point guard from the game was more precautionary than anything else. Curry was sent to get an MRI, the results of which are still being eagerly anticipated.

That being said, if the team is forced to be without their leader for any extended stretch, newly-acquired Jimmy Butler explained after the game that they need to be ‘perfect’ to survive without Curry.

“I think the message is gonna be, whether he’s with us or whether he’s not, hopefully he is, but if he isn’t, that’s just more perfect basketball that we’re gonna have to play.

We can’t afford to turn the ball over, we can’t afford to foul, because we don’t have the one individual that can automatically get us back into the game, but we want the guy, we want our guy with us.”

Butler served as the number one option for the Warriors when Curry rested against the Milwaukee Bucks a couple of nights ago. That role is likely to find him once again if the two-time NBA MVP is out for a few contest moving forward.
