Former NFL OL slams Seahawks for trading DK Metcalf: ‘Steelers fleeced Seattle’

New Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf gives the team a top-flight wide receiver they have been searching for over the past year. So, how did it grade out, especially considering the Steelers traded a second-round pick and paid Metcalf $33 million per year?

Former NFL guard and analyst Brian Baldinger believes the Steelers were the huge winners in the trade, even going as far to say the Steelers came out far ahead of Seahawks.

“Steelers fleeced Seattle,” Baldinger said on X.

In addition to the second-round pick, the Steelers received a sixth-round pick back for their seventh-round pick, so the team got some late-round value back for trading that second-round pick Metcalf was traded for on Sunday.

A two-time Pro Bowler, Metcalf has shined with the Seahawks, and has connections to the Steelers. He played with Russell Wilson, whose moonball helped unlock Metcalf as a deep threat throughout his early years with the Seahawks.

Paired with George Pickens, the Steelers hope to have one of the more dynamic wide receiver rooms in the entire NFL. Pickens is in the last year of his contract.

Metcalf led the NFL in receptions of 20 or more yards in 2024, bringing another explosive element to the Steelers offense they needed badly.
