Florida basketball vs. UConn officially set. Time, date for March Madness second round game

For the first time since 2021, Florida basketball has won a game in March Madness.

As expected, the No. 1 seeded Gators moved onto the Round of 32 for the first time in four years with a 95-69 thrashing over 16th-seeded Norfolk State. Florida led from the opening tip and eventually by 32. The Spartans cut the lead to around 20 at the half, but UF fended them off down the stretch.

Walter Clayton Jr. once again led the Gators with 23 points on 6-11 shooting. Double digit points also came from Alijah Martin (17), Thomas Haugh (13) and Alex Condon (12).

UF’s next opponent, UConn, defeated Oklahoma 67-59 on Friday evening in Raleigh in the game immediately following the Gators’ matchup. Solo Ball led all UConn scorers with 14 points. The Gators and Huskies have met twice in March Madness. UF upset UConn in Miami in the 1994 Sweet 16. Twenty years later, UConn upset the top-seeded Gators in the Final Four in Arlington.
