No. 1 Tennessee basketball suffered its first loss of the season on Tuesday night when it scored its fewest points of the Rick Barnes era in an upset by No. 8 Florida, 73-43.
The Volunteers shot a season-low 21% (12-of-56) from the floor and made just four of their 29 three-point attempts to finish the night shooting 14% from distance. Chaz Lanier and Zakai Zeigler were the only Vols to finish in double figures with 10 points.
Florida had three players do so. The Gators were led by 18 points from Denzel Aberdeen despite their leading-scorer entering the night, Walter Clayton Jr., finishing with seven points on 3-of-10 shooting. Alijah Martin added 13 points and Alex Condon secured a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Barnes met with the media in Gainesville following the loss to discuss what went so terribly wrong for his team. Here’s everything he had to say.
