After one season with the Cleveland Browns, quarterback Jameis Winston has signed a two-year deal with the New York Giants.
The former No. 1 overall pick and Browns quarterback will get a deal worth $8 million over these two years, with incentives that could increase that number to $16 million. The deal was first reported by FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz.
Winston started seven games this season for the Browns, throwing for 2,121 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He led wins over two AFC North rivals, the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers as the starter in 2024. Wide receiver Jerry Jeudy experienced a breakout, Pro Bowl season with the Browns thanks to a plastering of targets from Winston.
The Browns, however, are still in the market for a veteran quarterback. The Atlanta Falcons are still holding Kirk Cousins hostage and Russell Wilson just came for a visit without a deal. The Giants were the landing spot that looked favorable to either Aaron Rodgers or Wilson. With the Giants now off the board here and with Rodgers honing in on the Pittsburgh Steelers, we are getting close to a Russ-Browns match in free agency.
The quarterback market is about to get interesting now that a domino has fallen.
