Billy Ray Cyrus’ performance at Donald Trump’s Liberty Ball was slammed due to not only his appearance but also several tech issues.
The father of Miley Cyrus appeared to be not only be “lip-synching” but was also left to Capella like Carrie Underwood as his guitar ‘stopped’ working.
Billy Ray then could be seen shouting backstage asking them to sort it before he was escorted off stage.
Social media users have flocked to Twitter, formerly known as X, to slam the star’s performance.
One wrote: “Billy Ray Cyrus, clearly lip-syncing, looks like he crawled out from under a bridge before this weak performance at Donald Trump‘s inaugural Liberty Ball. So embarrassing.”
A second echoed: “Who signed off on Billy Ray Cyrus performing tonight? They should be fired immediately. This is awful.”

A third continued: “I’m embarrassed for you @billyraycyrus please get help and stop drinking. This is a disgrace to our President and our country get off stage.”
One fan queried due to several tech issues: “WTH just happened with Billy Ray Cyrus at the Liberty Inaugural Ball? Is he drugged out? Guitar not working? Or did they turn it off?
“He snaps his fingers and sings acapella with a hoarse voice? Wanders around then kneels? Had to be escorted off stage? Yikes.”

A fifth added: “What is up with Billy Ray Cyrus?? That wasn’t just technical difficulties….”
Billy Ray is known to have had a hard 2024 due to his divorce as well as his public fall-out with his family.
His daughter Miley also has been vocal about her support for the Democratic party, including former Vice President Kamala Harris in the November 2024 election.
She also campaigned for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and celebrated Joe Biden’s victory in 2020 on social media.
The past tensions between the former child star and Donald Trump resurfaced during a rally in August 2024, where the President took a dig at Billy Ray Cyrus’ parenting skills.
Trump quipped: “Billy Ray Cyrus is here. Where is Billy Ray? He’s around here someplace, and he’s great.
“He’s a conservative guy. I said, How did you get such a liberal daughter? How had that happened, Billy Ray?”
In the past, Billy and Miley Cyrus’s political differences have been stark; she previously labeled Trump a “racist, sexist, hateful a–hole,” in a 2019 interview.
Their estrangement may partly stem from their divergent political views, as well as personal family matters.
After her parents’ almost three-decade-long marriage ended, Miley was rumored to have sided with her mother Trish, causing her relationship with her father to deteriorate further.
Billy Ray Cyrus’s subsequent marriage to Australian singer Firerose, who is notably 25 years his junior, only added to the strain.
Seven months into the marriage, they announced a divorce.
