Basketball dad LaVar Ball has foot amputated following ‘serious medical issue’: report

LaVar Ball, who is the father of basketball stars Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo Ball, reportedly had his right foot amputated.

TMZ Sports broke the news Wednesday, noting Ball’s foot was removed after the 57-year-old experienced a “serious medical issue.”

The media outlet shared a photo of Ball, which shows him sitting in a wheelchair. His right leg is bandaged — but he’s wearing a big smile.

According to TMZ Sports, Ball “is in great spirits and doing well.”

Ball, an outspoken businessman, is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Big Baller Brand, which is a sports apparel company. The brand, TMZ Sports noted, “developed signature shoes for all three hoopers.”

His three sons each play professional basketball, with Lonzo and LaMelo both in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

While Lonzo is a guard for the Chicago Bulls, LaMelo is a guard for the Charlotte Hornets.

LiAngelo, who is a rapper known by his stage names G3 and GELO, last played for the Astros de Jalisco, a a professional Mexican basketball team.

Ball also played basketball while he was in college, as he played at Cal State-Los Angeles.
