The Houston Texans have been busy during the offseason, as they’ve added new players like Christian Kirk and Shelton Rankins to their talented roster while ushering longtime stars like Laremy Tunsil out the door via trade. Usually, these deals are announced on social media by reporters or the teams themselves via a press release, as this is standard fare.
However, for former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Braxton Berrios, his celebrity TikTok girlfriend Alix Earle took the reins and broke the news that her boyfriend’s time as a free agent had come to an end.

“Braxton got the call today he will be playing for the Houston Texans this next year,” Earle posted on TikTok, with Beyonce’s “Texas Hold’em” playing in the background. “So incredibly proud & CAN’T WAIT to see what this next year brings.”
Along with the reporting from TikTok, ESPN’s Adam Schefter detailed that the deal is for one year worth $2 million on Instagram.
Berrios and Earle, alums of the University of Miami, could bring plenty of juice to H-Town in their own unique ways. Chron Culture Editor Abigail Rosenthal and Chron Sports Editor Eddie Maisonet detail how both could fit in with their new home.

Earle first rose to fame posting videos on TikTok documenting her life as a University of Miami student and all the shenanigans that entails—going out, attending football games, late-night clubbin’, the resultant hangovers, etc. But she also documented her struggle with acne on the platform in her “get ready with me” videos, which led to millions of followers and being dubbed TikTok’s “It Girl.”

Earle has since graduated from the University of Miami, but she’s still active on TikTok, where she confirmed her relationship with Berrios in November 2023. Earle often posts about Berrios, including “get ready with me” videos ahead of date nights in Miami or her Dolphins-inspired ‘fits for sitting on the sidelines.
Besides having 7.3 million adoring followers on TikTok, Earle was named on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list in 2023. She also launched a podcast (Hot Mess with Alix Earle) under Alexandra Cooper’s Unwell Network. However, Earle’s podcast was dropped in late February amid rumors of a feud between the two (juicy).
Should she choose to move to Houston with Berrios, Earle will probably be pretty happy with the weather, the club and restaurant scene here, plus all the opportunities to sport a Western-inspired outfit. I expect we’ll see Earle at many a Tillman Fertita joint during the Houston Texans’ season.

While Earle will keep things interesting in the city, Berrios could be an enticing new target for his new quarterback, C.J. Stroud. Berrios likely fits in as a short-term replacement for some of Tank Dell’s reps, who will still be recovering from a devastating knee injury from last season. Dell won’t likely return to well past the midpoint of 2025, so Berrios will have a chance to not only crack the roster but also earn trust and become a vital piece to the offense.

Berrios, listed at 5-foot-9 and 185 pounds, will likely see some looks in the screen game and work to find holes in zone coverages. The Texans also added Christian Kirk from the Jacksonville Jaguars, a slot receiver who will likely start alongside Nico Collins.
It’s worth noting that Berrios, too, is recovering from a knee injury, as he tore his ACL against the Indianapolis Colts in October 2024. For the Texans, this is a $2 million short-term bet with high reward potential on a one-year deal.
Correction: Braxton Berrios reportedly signed with Texans in free agency. An earlier headline stated he was traded.
