Significant snowfall is expected to hit all of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula starting Wednesday and continuing into Thursday morning.
All of lower Michigan is either under a winter weather advisory or winter storm warning, according to the National Weather Service.
The advisories and warnings are in effect from 1 p.m. Wednesday until 7 a.m. Thursday.
Just before 8 a.m., the NWS predicted snow accumulations in metro Detroit between 3 and 6 inches.
There’s also a potential for ice accumulations of around 0.1 inches from freezing and rain in Wayne Washtenaw, Lenawee and Monroe Counties. The Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes will be impacted by the weather, according to the NWS.
