Everton vs Liverpool live updates: Red cards at full time after Tarkowski’s last-minute Premier League Merseyside derby equaliser

Virgil van Dijk was the man Liverpool put in front of the cameras at full time, and he was largely moody. Although, a few times, a smirk spread across his face, particularly when he commented on Michael Oliver’s performance.

“Intense, it was always going to be intense. A lot of battles,” he told TNT Sports.

“We’re very disappointed to lose in the last second of the game, or even over extra time. It is what it is. It’s not easy to accept it, especially in this manner but we take it, and we go on.”

Asked if it felt like a defeat, he said: “Yes and no. It was over extra time. The inevitable is coming but I think the referee had a big part in the game today. in terms of certain challenges given as fouls and others weren’t.

“But, in the end, it’s just very disappointing to concede at the last. A very good strike actually but very disappointing.”
