Users of PlayStation Network, Sony Interactive’s gaming platform, experienced an error as the servers were temporarily unavailable due to a maintenance issue. On opening the PlayStation, an error code WS-116449-5 was displayed. There were several posts on social media by users experiencing the error. The platform DownDetector, which tracks such outages based on users’ data, showed a rising curve of reports of users facing outage.
Several social media users took to their accounts to express their frustration.
One user on X said, “PlayStation Network is down. Great start to the weekend.”
Another person commented, “sukuna is in fortnite and the playstation network is down.”

The PlayStation error code WS-116449-5 indicates that the service is currently undergoing maintenance. There is usually no way to address the error unless PlayStation fixes it on their end. However, to address this issue, the following stapes can be tried:
Check PlayStation Network Status: Visit the PlayStation Network status page to see if there are any ongoing maintenance activities or outages.
Test Internet Connection: On your PS5 console, go to Settings > Network > Test Internet Connection to ensure your connection is stable.
Restart Your Network Equipment: Turn off your router and modem, wait for at least 5 minutes, then turn them back on to refresh the connection.
Wait and Retry: If the issue persists, it might be due to temporary network congestion. Wait for a while and try connecting again later.
