Friday Cheese Curds: Sterling Sharpe finally gets to follow brother Shannon into HOF

After what felt like an interminable wait, the Sharpe brothers will finally be reunited in Canton.

On Thursday night, Sterling Sharpe was announced as one of the four members of the 2025 enshrinement class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Sharpe, the legendary Green Bay Packers wide receiver, finally gets to join his younger brother Shannon, who was inducted in 2011.

The two brothers have been close all their lives, and their bond was perhaps best illustrated in Shannon’s enshrinement speech 14 years ago. Now we have another wonderful moment between these two to look back on: the moment that Shannon told Sterling that he was inducted.

This is a great moment for a great player and person, and these two will become the first pair of brothers in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Interestingly, they made it by the skin of their teeth, too — Eli Manning is still under serious consideration for enshrinement as well, and had he been part of this year’s class that would have made it two pairs of brothers due to Peyton Manning getting in back in 2021.

Instead, Eli waits for at least one more year. But the wait is over for one of the most dominant players of his generation. Congratulations to Sterling Sharpe on an honor he most certainly deserves.

The names selected are a bit shocking, with Eli Manning and Adam Vinatieri missing the cut in their first opportunities. Meanwhile, Reggie Wayne and Torry Holt will continue to wait.

Jacobs can attest to the organization and fan base rallying around a new addition, and he’s now openly advocating for more free agents to sign in Green Bay. Hopefully he’ll be a better recruiter than a certain former quarterback.
