Strong storms possible across Middle TN Thursday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Strong storms are possible across the region Thursday morning before another round comes in the afternoon into the evening.

The 10:30 a.m. update from the Storm Prediction Center has added a Slight Risk (level 2/5) for central and eastern Middle Tennessee, with a Marginal Risk (level 1/5) to cover our far western counties, the southern part of Middle Tennessee, and southeast Southern Kentucky.

This afternoon, storms will likely be more robust. And any storm that gets going could have strong winds and large hail, along with heavy rain as the main concerns. The tornado threat is low but not zero.

This afternoon, strong storms come in once again with a cold front pushing through. Storms could start as early as 12 p.m. but become more widespread by 4 and 5 p.m.. Storms continue to push south of I-40 into the evening & night hours.

Temperatures are in the 50s on Friday with a few showers expected. Then on Saturday, warmer temperatures return with highs to the 60s and 70s. A few strong storms possible Saturday evening into early Sunday morning, then much colder temperatures.

Rain amounts through Sunday will be close to 1 inch in some areas. Next week, much colder air returns with additional rainfall and possible wintry precipitation. Stay tuned for updates!
