A Greater Cincinnatian’s work appeared on a global stage Sunday night, when Chappell Roan graced the red carpet at the Grammys.
The 26-year-old pop star, who took home the award for best new artist, showed up in an archival 2003 Jean Paul Gaultier gown, complete with her signature drag-inspired makeup by Hebron, Kentucky, native Andrew Dahling, according to Instagram posts from Dahling and Roan’s stylist Genesis Webb.

Dahling, who was introduced to Roan’s team thanks to a friend from Conner High School, first collaborated with the star for her June 2024 Governor’s Ball set in New York City.
The performance dominated social media posts and Rolling Stone headlines alike, with shots of Roan painted head-to-toe green as the Statue of Liberty, an endeavor Dahling says took around five hours to complete.
Since the striking Governor’s Ball performance, Dahling has done Roan’s makeup for a number of other high-profile events, including her sprawling Rolling Stone cover shoot in September 2024 and her “Saturday Night Live” performance in November.

“I love working with Chappell because she’s so down for anything … she’s not super picky, she’s not afraid to get messy. She’s not a celebrity that has to work a specific way,” Dahling previously told The Enquirer.
Roan, the singer from Willard, Missouri, was one of two artists to be nominated in all four major categories (album of the year, record of the year, song of the year and best new artist) at the 67th Grammy Awards, where she also delivered a performance of her chart-topping track “Pink Pony Club.”
