Francisco San Martin, ‘Days of Our Lives’ actor, dies at 39

Francisco San Martin, the actor best known for his role in the daytime soap opera “Days of Our Lives,” has died. He was 39.

San Martin died in his Los Angeles home Thursday of a “ligature hanging,” the Los Angeles County medical examiner said. It did not elaborate on the cause of death.

San Martin’s body of work included the roles of Dario Hernandez on “Days of Our Lives” and Mateo on “The Bold and the Beautiful.”

He also starred opposite Gina Rodriguez in the CW’s “Jane the Virgin,” on which he played a telenovela star who entices Jane with his good looks.

He also appeared in the 2013 HBO feature film “Behind the Candelabra,” directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon.
