Capital One users were reporting issues with receiving their deposits on Thursday morning, leaving many customers wondering where their money and paychecks are.
Complaints on social media were pouring in via the @AskCapitalOne customer service account on X, formerly Twitter.
“What is going on with business checking accounts?” one X user asked Wednesday night. “Customer service told me everything should be working in about 2 hours and it’s going on 3hrs now still nothing has been resolved. The whole account + money is not showing up!”
Capital One replied and said the company was working to resolve the issue.
According to Down Detector, an online database logging outages, over 2,000 people had reported issues with Capital One banking by 8 a.m. Thursday morning.

Later Thursday afternoon, a Capital One spokesperson said the issue was caused by a technical issue from a third-party vendor.
Among the impacted customers and services were deposits and payment processing for some consumers, small businesses and commercial banks, Capital One said. The company said it is working with the vendor to resolve the issue.

Another X user said they’d been waiting 24 hours for their direct deposit with no resolution.
“We know it’s important to have your money when you need it, so we apologize for any inconvenience this is causing,” Capital One replied.

Also on Wednesday, Citibank said its app was experiencing technical issues after hundreds of customers reported receiving fraud alerts and difficulties accessing their accounts.
Just before 2 p.m. ET Thursday, a Citibank spokesperson confirmed to USA TODAY that its mobile app was back up and working. The spokesperson declined to comment further.
