Ohio State has beaten Texas 28-14 in the Cotton Bowl to book its place in the College Football Playoff national championship game.
Trailing 21-14 in the final minutes, the Longhorns had a chance to tie the game but on fourth-and-goal, Jack Sawyer strip-sacked Quinn Ewers and returned the ball 83 yards for the game-sealing scoop-and-score.
Quinshon Judkins had two rushing touchdowns for Ohio State while his teammate TreVeyon Henderson ripped off a 75-yard score on a screen pass right before halftime. Receptions by Jaydon Blue accounted for both of Texas’ touchdowns.
Seeking their first national title since the 2014 season, the Buckeyes will face Notre Dame on Monday, Jan. 20.
Texas, meanwhile, has lost in the CFP semifinals for the second straight season.
