Jimmy Carter funeral live updates: Biden says late president was ‘at peace with a life fully lived’

Former President Jimmy Carter was eulogized at Washington National Cathedral on Thursday by loved ones and dignitaries, including President Biden, who remembered the 39th president as a man who was “at peace with a life fully lived.”

Carter died on Dec. 29 at age 100. Biden spoke of his last visit with Carter, and said he had a “good life, a purpose and meaning of character driven by the power of faith, hope and love.”

The late president’s grandson, Jason Carter, recounted fond memories of his grandfather, who he called “Pawpaw,” and elicited laughter from the crowd. He joked that based on Carter’s push for clean energy and the decriminalization of marijuana, his grandfather “was the first millennial.”
