Historically, Mexico has dominated Canada in international play, but the Canucks have given El Tri a run for their money in recent years. Canada drew and defeated Mexico in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying four years ago, beating Mexico for the first time in over two decades.
Mexico has made it to the semifinals in each of the four editions of the Nations League, losing to the United States twice, finishing third in 2023. In receiving an automatic bye to the quarterfinals, Mexico beat Honduras to advance to the final four.
Canada had a similar path to the semis, receiving a bye to the final eight before running through Suriname in their quarterfinal match. Canada is trying to make it back to the final match for the first in two years.
All-time, Mexico is 24-10-6 against Canada, winning five of the six meetings in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
