Tesla has initiated the recall of 46,096 Cybertruck models in the US to address an issue with an exterior panel that may detach while driving.
The recall affects Model Year 2024 and 2025 vehicles produced between 13 November 2023 and 27 February 2025, Tesla said in a filing with the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
This marks the eighth recall for the model since January 2024.
The issue stems from the cant rail, a stainless-steel exterior trim panel affixed to the vehicle with structural adhesive.
Tesla identified that the adhesive could weaken, leading to delamination and possible separation from the vehicle.
If the panel detaches while the vehicle is in motion, it could pose a safety risk to other motorists and increase the likelihood of an accident.
Tesla has identified a detectable noise inside the cabin as a potential warning sign, along with visible loosening or separation of the cant rail panel.
With the recall, the company plans to replace the cant rail assembly at no charge to customers, using a different structural adhesive not susceptible to environmental embrittlement and reinforced with additional fastening methods.
Tesla has not corrected the condition in production as of 18 March 2025 but anticipates that production vehicles will receive the remedy from around 21 March 2025.

Although collisions or injuries were reported, Tesla said it has identified warranty claims of 151 that could be related to the recall issue.
In November 2024, Tesla recalled 2,400 Cybertruck pickups in the US citing a faulty driver inverter, marking the sixth recall for the model in the same year.
The identified fault could potentially lead to a loss of power, posing an increased risk of a crash.
