3 injured in Mississippi as violent storms sweep across U.S.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Three people were injured and hospitalized in Grenada County, Mississippi as fierce storms continue to sweep across the U.S.

At least 16 people have been killed in the monster storm streaking across much of the country.

According to Governor Tate Reeves, MEMA received reports that a cell entered Issaquena County Friday night, exiting in Itawamba County, causing significant damage.

Damage assessments are currently underway, with six counties reporting damage: Calhoun, Carroll, Grenada, Humphreys, Leflore, Montgomery – Grenada being the hardest hit.

Major damage has been reported in the Elliot and Gore Springs communities, the governor stated.

“Crews are working to clear roads and remove debris in the impacted counties,” Reeves wrote.

An Alert Day has been issued for Saturday, with a severe weather outbreak expected across much of the South.
