Rams trading veteran OL Jonah Jackson to Bears for 2025 draft pick

The 6-foot-4, 315-pound Jackson, 28, is a former Pro Bowl guard with the Lions who signed a three-year, $51 million deal with the Rams prior to last season. But he struggled in his one year with the Rams at both guard and center, suffering a fractured scapula in Week 2 and failing to regain his form after returning in Week 10, starting only four games for L.A.

The Rams allowed Jackson to pursue a trade after the season. Jackson’s contract made him a potential cut candidate, but with the Bears needing to upgrade their offensive line, they were willing to take on Jackson’s contract and send a pick back to the Rams. New head coach Ben Johnson, formerly the Lions offensive coordinator, had Jackson in Detroit for two years in 2022 and 2023.

Jackson has played all three interior spots in his career. The Bears’ 2024 starting interior trio — Coleman Shelton, Teven Jenkins and Matt Pryor — are all set to hit free agency next week.
