Hell’s Kitchen will never be the same after the first two episodes of Daredevil: Born Again changed everything for our favorite vigilante and his friends. After fans finally got confirmation that Karen and Foggy would definitely be back for the sequel series, there was some worry that some of them might not make it out alive. After all, Daredevil has a lot of enemies out there and being close to him doesn’t guarantee your safety and that was made very clear right away when Foggy was shockingly killed. So how did it happen?

Here’s what really happened to Foggy in Daredevil: Born Again.

Is Foggy really dead?

Unfortunately, Foggy really is gone. After Foggy was shot down in front of Josie’s bar, the show ends up doing a one-year time jump where we see the prayer card from Foggy’s funeral by Matt’s keys. This confirms that Foggy did not survive and he officially died from his wounds.

How killed Foggy?

Foggy ended up heading outside after receiving a phone call from his client Benny who he was hiding in his apartment. Benny tells Foggy that someone is downstairs and he believes that they are out to get him. We later hear someone seemingly fight him, so Matt goes to try to investigate what is going on as Daredevil. However, on his way, he hears a shooter getting ready to kill someone as Foggy finally gets in contact with Benny again who tells him that the person who was downstairs wanted to know where Foggy was.

We find out that the shooter is none other than Benjamin “Dex” Leonard Poindexter AKA Bullseye. Matt tries to run back to stop him before it’s too late, but Dex shoots Foggy outside of Josie’s and also attempts to shoot at Karen. He throws a grenade into Josie’s and shoots at Karen before Matt returns and starts fighting him in the bar.

Throughout the fight, Matt keeps hearing Foggy’s fading heartbeat and Karen’s pleas for him to stay alive. Eventually, Foggy dies from the gunshot wound to the chest, which causes Matt to grieve and question Dex as to why he killed him. Never getting an answer and seeing the smile on Dex’s face, Matt pushes him off the roof where he lands close to Foggy’s now dead body. Dex survives the fall and is then arrested and later charged to 11 counts of murder to the first degree, sentencing him to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Why did Dex kill Foggy?

While Dex never officially tells Matt why he killed him, it’s very clear that Dex is out for revenge after everything that happened in the original series. He attempted to go after Karen as well, so it’s likely that he was just out to the closest people to Matt.
