Why does Adam Sandler say Chalamet? What does Chalamet mean? Blame it on Nikki Glaser joke

Adam Sandler’s hooded sweatshirt and basketball sneaker ensemble at the Oscars on Sunday night was very “Sandlercore” of him, but his interaction with Timotheé Chalamet unlocked a new soundbite we didn’t know we needed.

The “Uncut Gems” actor and comedian, who was jokingly roasted for his “snazzy gym shorts” by host Conan O’Brien in the opening monologue, elected to “storm out” of the ceremony, but not before inviting the audience to join him in a five-on-five game of basketball.

The “Happy Gilmore” star then went up to Chalamet, who was nominated for an Oscar, gave him a hug and yelled “Chalamet!” before departing to a round of applause and laughter from an impeccably dressed audience.

Throwing Chalamet off-guard was hilarious itself, but why did Sandler say the “Complete Unknown” actor’s name so distinctly? And what does Nikki Glaser and the Golden Globes have to do with it? Find out the origin below.
