The Georgia Bulldogs understood they had to turn the page quickly after Saturday’s loss at Ole Miss. Not only did Georgia give No. 6 Kentucky its full attention on Tuesday, but the Bulldogs delivered an outing that few in Stegeman Coliseum will soon forget.
Georgia dominated the first half of action and got just enough scoring from Asa Newell and company in the second to deliver an 82-69 upset victory over Kentucky. The win was a huge boost early in SEC play for Georgia, which beat a top-10 SEC opponent for the first time since taking down No. 8 Tennessee in Jan. 2010.
Newell led Georgia with 17 points, and Blue Cain chipped in 15. Lamont Butler led Kentucky with 20.
